Okonomiyaki Recipe: A Simple Guide to Japan’s Iconic Savory Pancake
Ingredients:-
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup dashi broth
1 egg
1 cup shredded cabbage
1/2 cup chopped green onions
4 strips of cooked bacon
Okonomiyaki sauce (or a mix of Worcestershire sauce and ketchup)
Katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Batter
In a bowl, mix 1 cup flour with 1/2 cup dashi broth and 1 egg until smooth.
2. Add Vegetables
Fold in 1 cup shredded cabbage and 1/2 cup chopped green onions.
3. Cook the Okonomiyaki:
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Pour in the batter and spread into a pancake shape.
- Place bacon strips on top and cook until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side.
4. Serve:
Drizzle with okonomiyaki sauce and sprinkle with katsuobushi if desired.
